Does it hurt?

If it hurts, it must be bad for you, right? Not true.

If it hurts, it is meant to get your attention. Sometimes it is telling you to avoid something that is bad for you. Or it is trying to tell you to get medical attention or you will be sorry. Other times, pain makes you aware of a short term discomfort that leads to greater health. A healing crisis or a detox can be very unpleasant, but they are signs of healing, not ill health.

Why am I making this picky distinction? If you always look on pain as bad, you will waste a lot of time, money and emotion. On a daily basis I hear of people going to the doctor; buying over-the-counter drugs; paying for expensive alternative therapies and becoming very worried because of pain.

In some cases, those choices were perfect. In many cases, they were inappropriate. Sometimes, they made their health worse.

If you assume pain is bad and try to cover it up, you may be missing a crucial sign that could lead you to better health. You can actually get further from your health goals.

This is where dowsing has been an indispensible help to me and Nigel. If you can dowse, you can find out whether the pain is a signal of healing or an alarm that says go to the doctor. It takes practice to be detached enough to be sure your answers are accurate, but it is well worth it.

It takes practice to become as accurate as I am, but if you dowse daily on all kinds of subjects, you will soon be able to dowse about important questions like your health.

Of course, asking the right question is vital. So let me provide you with a sample protocol that you can use to test whether a symptom, such as pain, is something that is good or bad for you. It is important to be sure that you use words that have clear meaning to you, and that you cover all aspects of the subject with your question. The best questions are often rather long. Remember to focus clearly on a question before dowsing it. These questions may be used as a starting point.

  1. Using a +10 to -10 scale, what is the overall long-term level in effects on me of this symptom/pain? (The purpose of this question is to disregard the current scary symptom or unpleasant pain and find out whether is it part of a healing process or a dis-ease process. A negative number means it is part of a dis-ease process, while a positive number means it is a healing process.)

  2. You take different actions based on the answer to #1. A negative number, especially a large one, means get medical attention or take action to deal with the cause of the symptom. A positive number may indicate a detox, a healing crisis or a transformative process is occurring. You do not want to interrupt those. You want to support them.

  3. Use dowsing to determine what the best action for you to take is. Some options are: see a doctor, drink more water, use a herbal supplement, get a Reiki treatment, just wait and be patient. You can have a list of your most effective choices for both options (dis-ease or healing process) and see what tests best.

  4. Pain should not persist for very long or be very strong. See a a doctor if you have debilitating pain or pain that persists for a long time.

  5. If you dowsed that your symptom or pain is overall good for you (positive number) in the long run, support the process as best you can. EFT can be very useful at times like that for reducing the symptoms. Natural remedies for pain relief and drinking more water are two other solutions.

  6. Dowsing, like everything, is not 100% accurate. But it is very accurate and deserves to be trusted. Use your judgment and follow your inner guidance.

  7. Any situation that is about health deserves a second opinion. Get one if you have any doubt about what to do.
